Many thanks to Josh Murfitt for snapping an album-full of PLACE images as our final record of the project.

Neon and interactive postcard project
PLACE: Relinking, Relating, Relaying took place in January 2018 at The Ruskin Gallery and Gallery 9, Cambridge and brought together artists from Italy, Slovenia and Bosnia Hercegovina to respond to our chosen themes of boundaries and borders, belonging and connection, relations and exchanges – themes to which artists from Cambridge and beyond were also invited to respond.
The result was an intriguing and energising array of work that felt somehow bound together despite our different cultural backgrounds. There was a serendipity to the range of responses. From painting (Barbara Stefani, Adriana Torregrossa, Neil Horsefield), drawing (Maja Rubinic, Dalibor Nikolic) and video (Radio Fragola Gorizia, Susi Gutierrez) to sound (Andreja Dzakusic), performance (Veronique Chance, Simon Macuh) and installation (Nerma Cridge), the mix of media seemed to emphasise the breadth of alternative perspectives, narratives and reference points on display.

A particular favourite for many people was the Skype Meal, hosted remotely by Simon Macuh from Celje, Slovenia during our Private View, who joined us across the ether from his own home-made gallery just for the evening. Thank you Simon!

So as we say goodbye (for now?) to PLACE: Relinking, Relating, Relaying, a big THANK YOU to everyone involved in making it such a special project to be a part of – artists, sponsors, supporters and ALL committee members.
