Artificial / Memories [ext]
Multi screen video installation
Ruskin Gallery Project Space, Anglia Ruskin University, East Road CB1 1PT
A multi screen video installation developed for the basement project space at Anglia Ruskin Gallery including ‘Axis / Grid’, ‘Random Dance Site’ and ‘Raster’.
The work explores perception and memory in relation to contemporary media culture characterized by a more and more blurred edge between the real and the artificial – at a time when the network, computer programs, databases and robotic machines change not only some of our cognitive processes, but also our way of organizing information and communications as well as most other parts of our society.
The installation reflects upon perspectives of internal representations, which often are memories related to synthetic (artificially created) content. It questions how our mind or consciousness is influenced when perceiving written and visual information through mass media (television, press, cinema, the internet, etc.)
The experimental exploration in progress includes motion typography, animations as well as digital photography.
